Get it? Overkill? Nothing new, but bears repeating. Image credit mises.org.

I agree completely with you.

To introduce a viewpoint neither of us probably agrees with but worth considering, I've been told a couple times that US military spending allows most of the rest of the world to rely on our military and not keep theirs in total readiness for the possibility that Something Bad Happens.

I understand the freeloader problem, but what sort of Bad Something are we on the lookout for? If funding is any sort of proxy for military might, and we spend more than the rest of the world combined, it seems like WE are pretty much the Something Bad that happens to others.

Then again, if military spending is NOT a good proxy for military might... well, we're overpaying then, aren't we?

haha, overkill. ha... hmm...

I'd like to see more money go into the agency that gave us Tang and velcro. Besides dehydrated foods, I dunno what other great inventions have come out of military spending.
